For car valeters and detailers

Nobody searches for a valet. They see one and want theirs done.

A dirty car is not a problem people go looking to solve. It is a background irritation they live with for months. Then a machine-polished bonnet scrolls past on their phone, and suddenly it is this weekend's job. That is why this trade is won on social, not on search.

Why social, not search

This is demand you create, not demand you catch.

Most trades we work with lead with Google, because their customers search when something goes wrong. Valeting does not work like that. The volume of people actively searching for a valet in a given town on a given day is small, and it is mostly people wanting the cheapest possible wash.

The bigger market is everybody driving around in a car they are slightly embarrassed by who has simply never got round to doing anything about it. You cannot reach those people through search, because they are not searching. You reach them by putting the result in front of them.

Which is lucky, because valeting produces the best advertising material of any trade. A swirled, dull paint job turning into a mirror is genuinely satisfying to watch, and it sells the job without a word of copy.

The radius

Mobile valeting lives or dies on how far you drive.

If you are mobile, travel time is your biggest hidden cost. A full valet is a couple of hours of work. Add forty minutes each way and the job that looked profitable was not.

So the targeting is built tight and deliberately. A small radius around where you actually want to work, weighted towards the areas whose cars and driveways suit what you charge, rather than a broad net across a whole county because the reach numbers look better.

It also lets us do the thing social does better than search: show the same handful of streets your work repeatedly until you are simply the valeter people in that area know. Frequency in a small area beats reach across a big one, and it is far cheaper.

The ladder

The wash is the way in. The detail is the money.

There is an enormous price range in this trade, from a quick outside wash to a full paint correction and ceramic coating, and the gap between the top and bottom is the difference between a decent living and a very good one.

Ads that lead with the cheapest service attract customers who only ever want the cheapest service. So we build the campaign around the top of the ladder, not the bottom — the transformation work, the machine polish, the ceramic protection — and let the entry-level jobs come in underneath naturally.

There is a seasonal rhythm to it too. Pre-sale valets when people are moving a car on, a summer run when the weather turns and cars are being used, and a strong December for gifting and pre-Christmas tidy-ups. We move budget across those rather than spending flat.

Our process

How we build your campaign.

01
Service ladder and radiusWhat you charge at each level, which jobs you actually want more of, and how far you will travel for each. The radius is set from the job value, not from ambition.
02
Creative from your own workYour before and afters cut into short, watchable pieces. This trade needs almost no invention, just the footage used properly and posted often enough.
03
Audience and frequency buildA tight local audience seen repeatedly rather than a wide one seen once, plus retargeting so people who watched but did not message see you again.
04
Messages into the CRMEnquiries land in your portal rather than sitting unread in a page inbox. Accept, reject or book straight into the calendar between jobs.
05
Refresh and seasonal shiftsCreative rotated before it burns out, which happens faster on social than on search, and budget moved across the pre-sale, summer and Christmas runs.

Alongside it

What else works for valeters.

Social is where we would start for this trade. These three do a different job.

01
Social media postingThe natural partner to the ads. Paid reach brings people to the page, and a page posting finished cars every day is what converts them. You already take the photos.
02
Google AdsWorth adding once social is working, aimed at the higher-intent searches — ceramic coating, paint correction, pre-sale valet — rather than the cheap wash traffic.
03
Google Business Profile postingFor anyone who does search locally, reviews and recent photos decide who gets messaged. It costs nothing per click.

Running more than one together is usually cheaper than buying them separately. Ask about the combined rate on your call.

Questions

Valeters usually ask us this.

Q
Do I need to be good at filming? No, but you do need to take the footage. A phone propped against a wheel while you machine polish a panel is enough. We handle the editing, the copy and the posting.
Q
Will I just get people wanting a cheap wash? Not if the ads lead with the detailing work. What you show is what you attract, which is why we deliberately build the campaign around the top of your price list.
Q
I have a unit rather than being mobile. Then the radius question flips. We target a wider area but lean harder on the reasons somebody would drive to you, and the campaign is built around that instead.
Q
Is winter worth advertising in?Yes, though differently. Salt and grime protection, interior work and pre-Christmas gifting all sell in the cold months, and competition for attention is lower.
Q
Do you work with other valeters nearby? No. One business per trade per area, so it is worth checking early whether your patch is still open.
