For exterior cleaners

You do six different jobs. Most people advertise them as one.

Roofs, gutters, driveways, render, patios, conservatories. Six services, six different customers, six different times of year — and almost every exterior cleaning business pours them into a single campaign and wonders why the cost per lead will not come down.

One exterior cleaner per areaNo lock-in contractsLeads land in real time

The core problem

One blended campaign hides which work actually pays.

Somebody searching for a driveway clean and somebody searching for roof moss removal are not the same customer. The jobs are worth different amounts, they take different lengths of time, they happen in different months and they convert at different rates.

Put them in one campaign and the numbers average out into something meaningless. You end up with a cost per lead that tells you nothing, because the cheap driveway enquiries are flattering the figure while the roof work that actually pays your wages sits underfunded.

We build each service as its own campaign arm with its own budget, its own copy and its own negative list. Then, for the first time, you can see which of the six is worth chasing in your area and which one you should quietly stop advertising.

Where to start

Lead with the job that pays for the van that day.

If you are starting with one budget rather than six, we usually push it at whichever service has the highest value per visit and the least competition locally. That is rarely the one people expect.

Driveways get searched the most, which also means they are bid up hardest and attract the most price-shopping. Roof work is searched less but is worth far more per job and has fewer people advertising against it. Render cleaning sits somewhere in between and is often wide open. Gutters are cheap individually but bring you back to a street you can work again.

Which of those is right depends entirely on your area, your pricing and what you actually enjoy doing. It is the first thing we work out on the call, and it is the difference between a campaign that funds itself in month one and one that takes six months to find its feet.

The multiplier

The second job on the same house costs you nothing to win.

This is the advantage exterior cleaning has over almost every other trade, and most people leave it on the table. You paid to get one customer. You are already on their drive. The gutters are visible from where you are standing, and so is the render, and so is the roof.

A customer who books a driveway clean and comes away having also booked the gutters has just halved your effective cost per lead, without a single extra click being paid for. Two houses on the same street doubles it again, because you are not paying for the travel twice.

So we do not just target searches. We target them by postcode density, weight bids towards the areas where you already have work, and set the campaign up so the follow-up and the review request go out through the CRM automatically. The paid click gets you the first job. The system is what turns it into three.

The calendar

Something is always in season.

A single-service business has a quiet half of the year. You do not have to. The reason to run several campaign arms is that you can move the money round the calendar instead of switching off.

Roof and render work builds from late winter as the green becomes obvious. Driveways and patios run hard through spring and summer, when people are looking at the garden and thinking about having people round. Gutters spike in autumn with the leaves, and again after any serious rain. Conservatory roofs sell whenever somebody wants the room back.

We shift budget between the arms as the year turns, so you are always bidding into demand that exists rather than paying peak prices for a service nobody is searching for that month.

Our process

How we build your campaign.

01
Service and margin auditWhat each of your services is actually worth per visit, how long it ties the van up, and which ones you would take more of tomorrow. This decides where the budget goes.
02
Split campaign buildSeparate arms per service rather than one blended campaign, each with its own budget and its own negatives, so the reporting means something from week one.
03
Postcode weightingBids weighted towards the areas you already work and the streets worth clustering, rather than spraying the same bid across a thirty mile radius.
04
CRM, follow-up and reviewsEnquiries land in your portal in real time. Accept or reject, book them in, and the review chaser goes out after the job without you remembering to send it.
05
Seasonal rebalancingBudget moved between services as the year turns, plus weekly search term reviews and new negatives as they appear.
Pricing

One setup fee. One monthly rate.

However many services we split the campaign into. No percentage of spend, no long-term contract.

£250per month
Plus £400 one-off setup

Ad spend is paid directly to Google and is separate from our fee. We will give you a realistic budget for your area on the call.

  • Separate campaign arms per service, not one blended campaign
  • Reporting that shows which service is actually paying
  • Postcode weighting to cluster work and cut travel
  • Seasonal budget shifting across the year
  • CRM access with accept and reject, booking calendar and review chaser
  • Weekly optimisation and a person who answers the phone
Alongside it

What else works for exterior cleaners.

Search is where we would start. These three do a different job, and this trade suits all of them because the work photographs so well.

01
Facebook and Instagram AdsNobody searches for a driveway clean until they notice the state of it. A before and after in the feed is what makes them notice. This is where new demand comes from rather than existing demand.
02
Social media postingYou finish two or three jobs a day that would each make a good post, and none of them get posted. Send the photos from your phone and we design, write and publish them daily on both platforms.
03
Google Business Profile postingThe map pack often sits above the paid ads for local searches. Fresh posts and job photos help you hold your place in it, with no cost per click.

Running more than one together is usually cheaper than buying them separately. Ask about the combined rate on your call.

Questions

Exterior cleaners usually ask us this.

Q
Should I advertise all my services at once?Usually not at the start. We would rather put a real budget behind one or two and get them working than spread a small budget across six and have none of them gather enough data to optimise. We add arms as the account earns it.
Q
I get a lot of price shoppers. Can ads fix that?Partly. Copy that states a minimum job size, mentions insurance and shows the standard of finish filters a surprising amount out before the click. The rest is handled at quoting stage, and the CRM lets you reject a lead rather than chase it.
Q
What about commercial work?It can be built as its own arm, and it usually should be. The searches, the budgets and the sales cycle are completely different from domestic, and mixing the two is another way of making your reporting meaningless.
Q
I am a one-man band. Will I get too many leads? That is a budget question, and it is easily controlled. We would rather start you lower and build than fill your phone with work you cannot service, which damages your reviews and wastes the spend.
Q
Do you work with more than one exterior cleaner in an area? No. One business per trade per area. Once your patch is taken we turn the next one down, which is why it is worth asking early whether yours is open.
